Director Bio

Wanda Miniquaken is a young Cree woman from Wemindji. For her directorial debut with Wapikoni, Wanda was inspired to make this film based on the journey of her boyfriend Curtis Shanush who went from making bad choices to more positive ones. Wanda hopes that by sharing Curtis’s story, this might break the isolation of other young people who might feel inspired to change paths. The filmmaking process taught Wanda that she had more creative talents than she thought and is now considering how she may pursue this path in college.
